Choirs

Lashir

The Jewish Center has a special relationship with Lashir, an independent Jewish community choir. In its twenty-first season, this 25-person choir sings in Hebrew, Yiddish, and Ladino (but not in English), and performs in a variety of community and institutional settings in New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area. The music is in four parts and Lashir has a professional conductor and accompanist. Lashir performs several times a year at Jewish Center events and at Princeton inter-faith services, such as the community Holocaust memorial service. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at The Jewish Center. Contact Robin Wallack at 609-924-0330 for more information.

Sheket

Sheket is The Jewish Center's children's choir, under the direction of Robin Wallack. Sheket sings in seven languages and performs for Jewish Center synagogue and school events as well as events throughout the community, including the congregation's Holocaust memorial service, the Rider University Center for Holocaust Education, the Princeton community Dr. Martin Luther King commemoration, Greenwood House, and the lighting of the menorah at Palmer Square. Children must be in 4th grade or older. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings at The Jewish Center. Contact Robin Wallack at 609-924-0330 for more information.
