HAVURAH CORNER  

The Havurah program is off to a great start. We have received responses expressing interest in participating in a Havurah in many of the categories: Families with Young Children, Families with School Aged Children, Empty Nesters and Singles.  If you have an area of interest not mentioned, let us know. Maybe you’ll assist in coordinating the formation of a group and help get it off the ground.

Being part of a Havurah is a wonderful way to feel the warmth and support of a close-knit community, while being part of a larger congregational community. Membership in a Havurah serves to make a large congregation more intimate and personal, adding to a sense of belonging within The Jewish Center community at large. The Havurah offers the opportunity to meet other families, individuals and couples within the synagogue community and develop long-lasting relationships and opportunities for Jewish growth.

To help answer any questions you may have about Havurot, there will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 29, 8:15 p.m. in the Adult Library.  The clergy will speak about Havurot, and there will be a panel discussion with others who have been in long-standing Havurot at The Jewish Center. They’ll share ideas and programs which have worked to keep their Havurot active over a number of years.

Once you return the response card, someone from the committee will contact you. We plan to begin forming Havurah groups in November from all the responses we have received at that point. Don’t be left out-send in your reply soon!   Please consider helping to coordinate the start up of your group. We’ll be there at your first meeting to help get your Havurah started.
