JEWISH CENTER WOMEN: 2008 OCT. NEWSLETTER
The Jewish Center Women started off another exciting year at The Jewish Center by delivering challah, along with New Year’s greetings to all new members of the Jewish Center…welcome to everyone.
On September 16th, we held our first monthly gathering of “STITCH & KVETCH”, where we enjoyed a relaxing evening schmoozing with friends while we shared knitting, cross stitch and various needlework skills. Please join us on October 28th at 7:30 P.M. for our next session at the home of Carole Braun at 31 Herrontown Circle, Princeton. All experience levels are welcome. If you have any questions, please contact Carole Braun at 609-497-3405 or cbraunnj@aol.com.
Please join us on Friday, October 17th for a warm, intimate evening at our congregational New Member Oneg Shabbat and dinner in the Sukkah. Our Jewish Center families will celebrate a very special Shabbat service and then gather to enjoy a delicious dinner under the stars in our beautifully decorated Sukkah. We encourage you to help us welcome and embrace our newest Jewish Center members and make this celebration as special as last year. Please refer to the Invitation and RSVP form in this newsletter for further details.
We are pleased to introduce our new and expanded Sunday Morning Torah Studies series, which is now appropriately entitled JCW Lilmod (“learn”). We are excited to announce that Rabbi Julie Roth and Leora Batnitzky, Ph.D, Professor of Religion at Princeton University, will join Rabbi Feldman and Rabbi Tucker as they lead us in inspirational discussions, with a new and stimulating topic at each session. Rabbi Feldman will lead our first session on November 9th where we will discuss “Talmudic thought through the study of text.” The text will be in English and in Hebrew and will therefore provide a great learning experience for participants with or without a strong Hebrew background. It will be held in the Adult Library at from 9:00-10:00 A.M. Please mark your calendar with the following dates for JCW Lilmod for the 2008-2009 year: 11/9, 12/14, 2/1, 3/15, 3/29 and 5/29. They will be led by Rabbi Tucker, Leora Batnitzky, Rabbi Feldman, Rabbi Roth and Rabbi Tucker, respectively. Topics, times and locations to follow.
The JCW will host its Fourth Annual Wine Tasting Party at the beautiful Hopewell Valley Vineyards on November 15th. We invite both men and women men to enjoy a scrumptious Kosher dinner complimented by award-winning wines and soft, contemporary music. This event has always been a delightful social evening for couples and a perfect setting to meet new friends. Invite and RSVP to follow.
JCW is a wonderful community of women in our synagogue and we warmly welcome anyone interested in becoming a member. We hope you will join us for one or several of these events. If you are interested in learning more about JCW or would like to get involved in planning an event, please contact Anne Rutman at 609-730-8166 or jrskiapr@aol.com or Amy Berk at 908-431-4353 or dasb9999@yahoo.com.

VISION: Jewish Center Women (JCW) is an inclusive, warm and enduring community of women within the Jewish Center. MISSION STATEMENT: To build and sustain a warm, inclusive community comprised of caring, compassionate and socially conscious women that supports the women in our synagogue, other groups within the Jewish Center and our local community. Above all, Jewish Center Women meets the needs of a broad cross section of women in the Jewish Center through various programs and activities. Our priority is to nurture, replenish and stimulate our members and to foster connections with one another. In addition, our mission extends to support the needs of our congregation, such as families, membership fundraising and education. Lastly, Jewish Center Women reaches out to the broader Jewish and non-sectarian communities to identify and respond to needs where we can have a positive impact. We will accomplish this by initiating activities and collaborating with other organizations.
